University of Göttingen (UGOE) is the largest University in the state of Lower Saxony in Germany. It is divided into 13 faculties with 180 institutes and has about 24,300 students (approx. 20 % from abroad) and 14,000 employees (including medicine), of whom 420 are professors. Teaching encompasses 115 programmes of study (73 Bachelor / 22 Master). In the project, the University is represented by the Chair of Wood Biology and Wood Products. The group is part of the Faculty of Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology and has 19 scientific employees (professors, senior scientist, PhD-students) and 6 technicians. Research of the group addresses various aspects of utilisation and treatment of ligno-cellulose including solid wood as well as wood particles and fibres for the production of composites.
